Winter Maintenance Guide for Handheld Laser Welding Machines!
Dec 25, 2023
Winter has officially arrived, and as temperatures continue to drop, I believe that those using handheld laser welding machines have prepared for the cold weather. So, how should we maintain and care for these precision devices as winter sets in?
Part.01 Routine Maintenance for Handheld Laser Welding Machines
Firstly, it is essential to note that when conducting internal and external port inspections of the handheld laser welding machine, the power switch must be turned off before proceeding.
01 Check of Operational Status
Before powering on the fiber laser welding machine, observe whether the cooling fan starts smoothly, runs smoothly, and check for abnormal vibrations, gas leaks, and any damage or exposure in the insulation wrapping of connectors.
02 Cleaning and Maintenance
The working environment of welding machines tends to accumulate dust. Periodically clean the dust inside the welder, paying special attention to gaps between coils, power semiconductors, and other critical areas. Clean the dust on the dustproof net of the water cooler and the fins of the condenser.
03 Periodic Inspection of Connection Ports
Internal and external electrical connection points should be periodically checked for loose or damaged connections.
04 Check for Component Wear
During prolonged use, external components may deform or rust due to external forces, and internal components (such as the laser and water cooler) may experience wear during operation. Therefore, during annual maintenance and inspections, promptly replace visibly damaged components or repair the housing.
05 Cooling Water Inspection
Regularly check and replace circulating water. The key to maintaining good output power for handheld welding machines lies in high-purity cooling water.
Part.02 Antifreeze Maintenance for Handheld Laser Welding Machines
01 Ensure an Operating Temperature of 5°C or Above
02 Keep the water cooler running continuously, setting the temperature of both low-temperature and room-temperature water to around 5°C to ensure the cooling water temperature is above freezing.
03 Drain the cooling water from the handheld laser welding machine after each use, and add antifreeze for water circulation.
04 Use antifreeze to replace cooling water, choosing an antifreeze with a freezing point slightly below the local lowest temperature.
Part.03 Maintenance of Welding Torch
01 Periodically check and replace the conductive nozzle to prevent issues such as unstable arcs, deterioration of weld appearance, or wire sticking.
02 Regularly clean and replace the spring hose to remove material debris accumulated over time. If severe miswiring or deformation occurs, replace the hose.
03 Replace the protective lens of the handheld laser welding machine torch. Loosen the screws of the lens drawer, remove the lens drawer assembly, take out the lens retaining ring and protective lens, replace the new protective lens, reinstall the lens drawer assembly into the handheld welding torch, and tighten the screws.
